By attending this event, coaches will:

  • Understand the theoretical framework which forms the basis of the approach at College Prep

  • Learn about the ideas Alex Sarama shares through Basketball Immersion, including the constraints-led approach, underpinned by Ecological Dynamics

  • Four hours of on-court learning everyday, observing how Alex and his staff run the camp and work with players

  • Option to join the camp coaching staff directly and receive direct feedback from Alex after delivering SSG’s

  • One coaching clinic led by Alex during the week, in addition to one group Q&A session

  • Networking with international coaches who are passionate about changing the status quo in basketball

All Access Camp Program: 

The on-court camp program will be directed by Basketball Immersion’s Alex Sarama. Alex has spent the last 5 years travelling the world conducting clinics and camps in over 40 countries.

  • Expect to see lots of small-sided games being used with players aged 14 - 19.

  • See how film study is used ecologically as opposed to prescriptively

  • Learn how individual skills are developed in parallel with modern team concepts

  • Purposeful constraint manipulation

All-Inclusive Event

  • Three high quality Italian meals a day: breakfast, lunch & dinner

  • International environment with players and coaches from all over the world

  • Gear

  • Note that in order to attend the event, coaches must share a child protection certificate or similar showing that they have received a background check in their home country. Coaches cannot participate in the event without proof of this document.

  • Shared accommodation in either a twin room with another coach. This can be pre-assigned if attending the event with a friend. Option for a single room for an extra 25 euros per night.

  • Arrivals on Sunday 23rd July, departures on Saturday 29th July, Milan Malpensa Airport. The event will therefore run Monday through Friday.

Facilities

Top class facilities at College Basket, with a sprung wood floor and basketball-specific court markings. The gym is a 5 minute drive from the hotel, with College staff transporting campers in mini-buses everyday.

Borgomanero is a located in the Italian province of Novara, within the region of Piemonte. The base of College Prep, Borgomanero is a small town with a population of 20,000 people. It is the perfect location for international camps with incredibly safe surroundings but lots to see in the local area (15 minutes from Lake Orta, 20 minutes from Lake Maggiore, 60 minutes from Milan and Turin).

What about flights?

The closest airport is Milan Malpensa Airport. Flights are the responsibility of each individual coach. We will provide airport transfers for pick-ups and departures free of charge. Please email m.bussoli@collegebasket.it when booking flights so we can add flight information to our grid and coordinate transfers. Please note there is an extra fee for transfers from / to either Milano Linate or Milano Bergamo (an extra 50 euros each way). Please to plan to arrive anytime on the 23rd July, departing anytime on the 29th July. An additional nights’ accommodation can be arranged for an extra fee.

Daily Event Schedule Example:

Breakfast: 8am - 9am

First On-Court Session: 10:30am - 12:30pm

Lunch: 12:30pm - 1:30pm

Nap and Down-Time: 1:30pm - 4:00pm

Camp Second On-Court Session: 4pm - 6pm

Dinner: 7:30pm - 8:30pm

*The coaching clinic event will take place on one evening early in the week, with the Q&A workshop taking place towards the end of the week.

**Note that two excursions will run during the week, one to Lake Orta and one to Arona (see photos below). Camp times may change slightly on these days.

What is the refund policy?

90 days before camp - 100% Refund

60 - 90 days before camp - 75% Refund

60 days or less - No Refund

Can I book an extra nights’ accommodation?

The event price is based on six nights’ accommodation. We can easily facilitate additional nights’ accommodation if needed.

Is the camp for anyone to attend?

Yes, the event is open to coaches of all levels of the game. While we anticipate most coaches will work in basketball, coaches working in other sports are most welcome!
