a transformative culture

facilities

College Prep are fortunate to access quality facilities. In addition to a purpose-built basketball court, the program makes use of a brand new strength room, dedicated film room, and “club house” restaurant where all lunches and dinners are served.

borgomanero, italy

virtual tour

What’s life in Borgomanero and the local area like? Borgomanero is a provincial town in the Italian region of Piemonte with a population of 20,000 people. Check out this virtual tour as we show you the town and surrounding areas.

piemonte

Piemonte is the second largest region in Italy, bordering Switzerland to the north and France to the West. The largest city in Piemonte is Torino, home of Juventus FC. Most importantly (especially for parents coming on visits to College Prep!), the region is one of the most popular for wine in Italy, producing several famous wines such as Barolo and Barbaresco.

arona

Twenty minutes away from Borgomanero, Arona is the go-to hang-out spot for our coaches! Situated on the shores of Lake Maggiore, Arona is a popular tourist spot for visitors from all over the world. Lake Maggiore is the second largest lake in Italy, which continues into southern Switzerland. Many of the players, coaches and parents that visit College often choose to stay in Arona.

milano

Milan is just a forty minute drive from Borgomanero. The world capital of fashion and design, Milan is also the leading financial and commercial city within Italy. Even among all the international fashionistas and designers, there is a rich historical and cultural scene with many impressive buildings such as the Duomo, La Scala, Sforza Castle and Galleria Vittorio Emanuele (photographed).

Prep residency

The College Prep Residency is your home away from home. As such, we’ve gone to extensive efforts to create an environment which our players are proud to call home.

Here are some key facts about the residency:

  • Shared rooms with three players per room

  • Full-time cook providing quality meals each day

  • Staffed by full-time College staff members who ‘live-in’ at the Residency to take care of the players

  • Shared living room with TV and access to NBA TV and EuroLeague!

  • Rota for light cleaning and laundry (yes we’re big on those life skills!). A “deep clean” is done every week by the cleaning staff.

the food

good eats

Food in Italy is a way of life. This also holds true to what we do at College Prep. Many stories exist of Gregg Popovich building the Spurs culture through team meals, and we also believe in the power of food. All our College Prep staff join our players for lunch and dinner each day. This is a strict no-phone period of the day where our players and staff disconnect and share some good food and company together.

how we cook

We follow an Italian menu based on a Mediterranean diet utilizing fresh and healthy ingredients. You won’t find chicken nuggets as the Prep menu is organic avoiding the use of processed foods. The menu typically consists of some type of pasta or risotto for lunch served with fresh salad, followed by protein for the evening meal. Breakfast is self-service with players typically making scrambled eggs or omelettes.

nutrition

In a lot of programs nutrition is typically neglected. We have a packed program at College, and for our players to perform at their best in the classroom and on-the-court, what they eat is essential. That’s why we invest heavily in our chef and using quality ingredients. Each player fills in an allergy log when joining Prep, as well as accessing our specialist nutritionist to create specific meal plans if required.
